Community Resources
Our community is proud to partner with a number of local organizations serving our larger Jewish community:
Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington
Bikur Cholim is a core community partner delivering support for patients and caregivers. They also manage a free, kosher pantry in each of the area hospitals. Our shul has a seat on the board to serve as an ambassador for the programs and services that Bikur Cholim provides.
Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse
Our shul hosts a Purple Shabbat or Purple Purim each year to highlight the work of JCADA, which delivers comprehensive services to victims while empowering future generations to develop healthy relationships.
Yad Yehuda of Greater Washington
Yad Yehuda‘s mission is to serve as the community’s safety net, working to eradicate food and financial insecurity through programs like Emergency Financial Assistance and the Capital Kosher pantry. Since 2006, Yad Yehuda has fed, clothed, paid rent, utility bills and medical bills for needy individuals and families in a way that allows them to maintain dignity. Contact Rabbi Uri to learn more about Yad Yehuda.
Jewish Fertility Foundation
JFF maintains a local and national presence, engaging with hopeful parents by providing financial assistance, emotional support, and infertility education to those struggling to build their families. Our congregation partners as well with other infertility initiatives each year, including with Bonei Olam and Yesh Tikva‘s annual Infertility Awareness Shabbat.
Jewish Social Service Agency
JSSA is a community health and social wellness agency providing mental health, hospice, homecare, holocaust survivor programs. Our shul partners with JSSA and B’nai B’rith each year on Project Hope to pack and distribute Pesach gift bags.
Jewish Federation of Greater Washington
Jewish Federation runs a community support line – 703-J-Caring, to support those facing crisis, and has been a core partner with our shul delivering financial assistance to those in need. They have also been a central community organizer in support of Israel, and their annual campaign benefits nearly all of our local Jewish agencies.
Chevra Kadisha of Greater Washington
The Chevra Kadisha has a dedicated team of volunteers who provide taharas for Jewish burial. They are always looking for more volunteers and our shul partners each year to support their annual Zayin Adar Dinner.
Garden of Remembrance Cemetery
Rabbi Elazar in the Midrash (Vayikra Rabbah 5:5) teaches that all are responsible in life to prepare a place for burial. To that end, our synagogue owns plots that are available for purchase to members (and their relatives) at Garden of Remembrance – Gan Zikaron Memorial Park in Clarksburg, MD. Please contact our office for more information.
Eshel
Eshel raises awareness and sensitivity amongst Orthodox religious and communal leaders, educators and guidance counselors on how to address the needs of their LGBTQ+ members through consultations and trainings.
TSC Alliance
The TSC Alliance has a local chapter dedicated to creating a future where everyone affected by tuberous sclerosis complex can live their fullest lives. Our shul participates each year in the Step Forward to Cure Walk.

JScreen
JScreen‘s genetic screening provides important insights into hereditary health risks, helping to manage one’s health proactively and make informed decisions. We have also partnered in the past with the Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium.
Sharsheret
Sharsheret provides personalized support, lifesaving education, financial assistance and genetic counseling to empower those faced with or at increased genetic risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
Makom
Makom runs group homes in the area, and offers a variety of services for adults with IDD. Our shul helps to build sukkahs each year for Makom homes in the neighborhood.
Sunflower Bakery
Sunflower prepares young adults with learning differences for employment in pastry, baking & other food industries, and they sell delicious, dairy, kosher baked goods! They have two retail locations right here in Rockville.
DC Kosher
DC Kosher is an initiative of the Beltway Vaad, providing kosher certification to a number of local, vegan establishments, as well as dairy bakeries. (The Vaad itself provides educational programming for the community and engages a Lay Advisory Council to serve as a vehicle for rabbinic accountability.) The Vaad of Greater Washington also provides kosher certification to area establishments.
Adventist Rehab Center
Adventist offers comprehensive rehabilitation programs for traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, orthopedic injuries and surgeries, sports related injuries, work-related injuries and more. Their annual Triumph Trek has taken place in recent years on the Berman Hebrew Academy track.
In addition to all of these incredible organizations, our shul supports a variety of other local projects each year servicing our larger community, such as Nourish Now, Stepping Stones Shelter, A Wider Circle, Fisher House, Interfaith Works, Greentree Shelter, and more! Please contact our office if you’d like to get involved in our Chessed Team.
